Anamul Haque has developed into Bangladesh’s most potent T20I batsman. With Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan struggling, a lot now depends on a player who had played just three T20I matches before this tournament. Anamul’s average of 38.6 and strike rate of 130.4 compare favourably with the star batsmen in the format and the opener’s task now is to convert the starts he regularly makes – he has reached 20 in seven of his eight innings but has hit one half-century, with a top score of 58.

Umar Gul is one of the most experienced Twenty20 bowlers around and showed plenty of nous as he helped his team put the squeeze on Australia in Pakistan’s last match. His figures of 2-29 from four overs showed he is close to his best form after a long period of injury problems.

Gul is the ultimate Twenty20 strike bowler, having taken four wickets in a T20I innings on six occasions, more than any other bowler.
